After our couple of days wandering the northern coast of France, we drove our rental car into Paris! That was a serious adventure. If you have never driven in Paris, be grateful! We had a really hard time figuring out the traffic and where we should park our rental. I don't think my husband has ever been so relieved to park a car and walk away from it! Luckily the parking lot was a very short walk from our hotel and we were able to go settle in. Our hotel was in the Spanish Quarter and I loved it. We were right by Luxembourg gardens and an easy walk to tons of stuff. My girls chose Paris as their number one destination when we were planning the itinerary, so they were so excited to be there! They have been learning French in school this year and they couldn't wait to use a little of what they know in Paris. We didn't have a ton of time in Paris, so we made the most of it! We started our first full day with a tour of the Eiffel tower. I can't even tell you how much joy it brought me to watch my kids see the tower for the first time! They were mesmerized! We took the stairs to the first and second levels. Lots of stairs! But well worth the view. It was super windy that day, so the top was closed, but we were just fine with what we saw. We walked from their to a darling French cafe where we ate Croque Monsieur and then got ice cream. After that we took the kids on a tour of a few of our favorite sites. We walked passed Notre Dame, toured the Conciergerie, saw the stained glass in Saint Chapelle and saw the work of the masters in the Musee d'Orsay. It was a BUSY but amazing day! We still weren't hearing much about Covid-19, people were business as usual, occasional visitors wearing masks, but no signs of alarm or anything. Who knew so much would change in a matter of days.
